Here is our work today. We are to carry on constantly a work of soul purification. We must cling to the mighty One, and walk in humility. God wants parents and children to be overcomers. He desires them to conquer their own natural spirit, and to gain the victory over the great enemy of righteousness, who is playing the game of life for our souls.

We are told that “whoso offereth praise glorifieth God.” How much do we glorify God by our praises? We frequently hear the expression, “I am so sorry.” Have we not heard enough sorry stories? Let us tell some stories that will uplift and bring cheer and courage. Let us tell what it means to be an overcomer. With the sunshine of heaven in our hearts, let us praise and glorify God. Let there be no quarreling among us, no differences. With sanctified lips and tongues, let us sing the praises of God, even though we may feel discouraged.

In times of discouragement, there are evil angels by our side. But angels of heaven are also with us, and as soon as we strike a note of praise to God, His angels shed their light about us, and the evil angels are driven back. Then we find our discouragement giving way to a feeling of hope and courage in the Lord. Shall we not, instead of fretting and complaining, use our voice to praise God? Then we shall see more of His salvation, and He will let His rich blessing rest upon us.”

Glorious is the triumph awaiting the faithful. The apostle, realizing the possibilities before the Corinthian believers, sought to set before them that which uplifts from the selfish and the sensual, and glorifies life with the hope of immortality. Earnestly he exhorted them to be true to their high calling in Christ. “My beloved brethren,” he pleaded, “be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

“He shall open, and no one shall shut; And He shall shut, and no one shall open.” (Isa. 22:22) The door to our prison, that once held us in by sin, was thrust open at Calvary. The crucifixion of Christ shook earth’s foundation, He led captivity captive. But, as in the days of Noah, the unseen hand shut the door secured those who waited inside God’s ark providing them safety and salvation from the coming judgement. The door closed and the saints of God waited inside for seven days and seven nights. Then the rain began falling, and the thunder began crashing, but no matter how strong man or angel may have been, the ark’s door would remain sealed until His people were delivered to the land He prepared for them. So, it shall also be with us, that a day will come, when the door to our prison where were once opened, would again be shut. Will we be found wanting on the scales of Judgement, or will we hold on to your blessing today?”
